In 2015 Imtech commenced a 25-year Energy Performance Contract with the Trust via the Carbon and Energy Fund, delivering an initial £7m project to upgrade the M&E infrastructure including installation of an absorption chiller, boiler efficiency upgrade and LED lighting replacement.
In January 2021, the Trust was awarded a £14m grant through Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme to enable the delivery of carbon reduction measures across the site including air and ground source heat pumps.
The second phase of works is also addressing critical backlog maintenance including flat roofs insulation and waterproofing, replacement windows and Air Handling Unit replacement.
Enhanced staff and patient comfort – replacing the roof coverings, adding insulation and new windows will provide improved comfort for patients and staff, with improvements to the mechanical and electrical systems also helping to improve the heating and cooling in the hospital.
“We are delighted to extend our partnership with the Trust through Harrogate Integrated Facilities. The new energy saving installations will enhance and accelerate the savings our team has delivered over the last few years, as well as ensuring further cost and carbon reduction benefits for the Trust and a better environment for staff, patients and visitors to the hospital. ”
