About The Role:

  • Develop and implement a commercial contract strategy covering tendering, contractor selection and ongoing performance management across Breathe’s entire project portfolio.
  • Work closely with Breathe’s operational management teams to maximise commercial understanding, efficiency, and opportunities across our business.
  • Work with the Commercial Director in implementing Group commercial process and initiatives.
  • Responsible for commercial due diligence in pre-sales activity, managing contract execution and governance (internal and external) of handover of contracts into construction.
  • Ensure sub-contracts align with Breathes client contracts and carry the right balance of risk and reward.
  • Lead all commercial activity post-contract including extension of time submissions, variations, change control.
  • Assist the business in achieving the target Gross Margin on each allocated project.
  • Provide ongoing commercial support across the business, including the provision of a contract suite that support the business model and provides and efficient, but low risk route to contracting with new and existing clients.
  • Provide bid support including contract reviews, commercial and pricing inputs and bid writing as required

About You:

  • A proven track record in senior commercial roles and demonstrable success in developing, implementing and managing effective cost and commercial management processes that can be shown to have delivered value for money suppliers and clients alike.
  • A true understanding of how to deliver added value for Breathe, clients and suppliers alike.
  • A strong understanding of construction contract terms and conditions, preferable NEC (4) and JCT.
  • An in-depth experience in developing and executing energy performance contracts with both clients and suppliers. Knowledge of energy performance frameworks including; Refit, ETL and the Carbon Energy Fund would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrate ability to negotiate and close contracts with a high working knowledge of key contractual provisions, performance conditions, typical clauses /mitigations
  • Ability to standardise internal approach across functions to reduce closure time for opportunities and advance the deal cycle from detailed design to construction
  • Adherence to commercial contract best practice, ethical standards, laws and regulations
  • Ability to drive internal and external decision making timelines
  • The ability to influence colleagues, stakeholders and suppliers drawing on a range of skills and negotiation techniques.
